Ninety-two young musicians from all six Big Noise programmes across Scotland gathered on the parliament's Garden Lobby steps to perform a rousing rendition of 'Highland Cathedral', conducted by our Director of Music & Curriculum, David Munn. This performance was screened to the Chamber during the anniversary celebration for a special audience including, Members of The Scottish Parliament, and The King and Queen.
Young musicians from Big Noise Raploch & Govanhill were also present on the day to perform live at the anniversary event reception. They even got to greet King Charles as he arrived at The Scottish Parliament.
We are grateful to The Scottish Parliament team for facilitating the inclusion of our young people in this historic event, and we are immenseley proud of all Big Noise participants who took part to represent their communities and the future of Scotland.

Big Noise Govanhill participant Iliana, who is 17, said:
“It was a surprise to speak to him as we didn’t think he would talk to us. He complimented us on the performance and asked us more about our instruments. The whole day was busy but very special. It sounded really good and we got a big round of applause after every piece, so it was great to see everyone enjoying it.”
Big Noise Govanhill participant Chloe, who is 16, said:
“He was wearing a kilt. It was great to see him representing Scotland. All our families are so proud of us for playing in front of the King. You get all these amazing opportunities at Big Noise. We have met Nicola Benedetti as well.”
