Across our six Big Noise areas almost 500 children and young people came to Big Noise to spend their summer holidays playing music, taking part in fun activities and arts and crafts, and taking part in some exciting performances.
Our summer clubs give our young people a fun and safe place to spend the holidays, while also helping parents and carers to take part in work, study, and other pursuits during the summer months.
Throughout the summer, participants were also given almost 5,000 hot meals and healthy snacks – all of which were free of charge.
For our young people in Raploch and Fallin there was an exciting trip to Stirling Castle, where our budding historians explored the iconic castle grounds and learned about the history of their local area.
At Big Noise Govanhill, our young people spent some time enjoying the Glaswegian sunshine with a couple of special trips to Baltic Street Adventure Playground and Queens Park Football Club.
On the east coast, our youngsters from Big Noise in Douglas were also out exploring their local area with a trip to the Brechin Castle Centre in Angus, where they explored the adventure playground and hunted for mythical creatures on the ‘Fairy Trail’.
Big Noise Torry played host to a couple of special visitors over the summer, with a spellbinding show from Magic Jono, as well as a special visit from Aberdeen FC’s mascot Angus the Bull!
Summer club was also a time for music making, with a number of our music groups and ensembles taking part in performances across the country.
For our newest programme in Wester Hailes, young people took part in a special performance as part of the Edinburgh Fringe’s community stage. 25 youngsters from Wester Hailes performed for the crowd at the special stage on the Royal Mile as part of the world famous arts festival.
Four young people from Big Noise Raploch and Big Noise Govanhill also took part in a performance in the capital, this time as part of the Edinburgh International Festival. The four young musicians took to the stage alongside the fantastic NYO2 youth orchestra from New York.

“These clubs provide our young people with a safe and fun place to spend the holidays with healthy meals and snacks provided, while also freeing up family members and carers to continue to work or even have some time for themselves.”
“Summer school brings together a broad mix of young people who are maybe new to learning their instruments, alongside some young people who have been through the full programme and are now interns now working with us for the first time but summer school is a place to bring young people together and deliver a broad range of learning and always a lot of fun.”
