Laura Horn - Team Leader

laurah.jpgOriginally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Laura completed a Bachelor of Music in violin performance at McGill University in Montreal. She has performed with numerous orchestras and chamber groups in Canada and Australia on both violin and viola. Laura is dedicated to communication through Classical music and is the co-founder of Chamber Music without Borders, the outreach program of McGill University’s Schulich School of Music.
Laura fell in love with El Sistema while working as the program coordinator of Sistema Australia’s pilot program in Melbourne. She taught at Big Noise Raploch before coming to Aberdeen to lead the new team in Torry.

Coralie Usmani - Temporary Team Leader 

coralie.jpgNew Zealand violinist Coralie Usmani holds a Bachelor of Music Honours (first class) in violin performance from Auckland University. She has worked as a freelance violinist playing with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Auckland Chamber Orchestra, Korutet String Quartet and folk/pop bands Avalanche City and Madam Tsunami.
Coralie has appeared on NZ national TV a number of times, toured Australia (Big Day Out 2013) and performed in Paris with her string quartet ‘Korutet’. She has recently moved with her young family to Aberdeen, Scotland to teach at Big Noise Torry and is looking forward to exploring Scotland and beyond.
