Originally from South Africa, Guido studied violin with Simon Fischer at the RSAMD. His first job was as a violin and viola teacher, and then went on to freelance with all the major Scottish orchestras. He formally joined the BBC Scottish Symphony in 2002, with whom he was fortunate enough to tour all over the world and perform in the finest of concert halls. Guido left the BBC SSO in 2006, and although still an active chamber musician he currently runs a successful plumbing & heating business.
I play the violin because all my family were musicians! Both my grandfathers were violinists; one of them made me a violin, and the other one gave me my first lesson. I love the violin because it plays all the best tunes in an orchestra.
